Before you start

Keep guards, panels and safety devices in place. Stop whenever the next action needs tools, live testing, disconnection or access beyond the owner's manual.

Checks you can safely make

  1. Let the cycle complete

Pause only with the control, wait for the lock to release, and check whether the selected cycle includes a full-speed spin.

  2. Rebalance the load

With the drum fully stopped, redistribute a single heavy item or remove part of an overloaded load. Retry a Drain & Spin cycle.

  3. Check the door or lid

Remove clothing trapped at the seal and close the door firmly. Do not bypass or hold down a lid switch.

  4. Look for excessive suds

Too much or non-HE detergent can make some washers extend or reduce spin. Follow the machine's suds-removal instructions rather than adding more product.

What to do next

Note the cycle, load type, remaining water and displayed code. If a small balanced test load still will not spin, arrange appliance service.

Common questions

Can one heavy item stop the spin cycle?

Yes. A bath mat, blanket or similar item can become unbalanced and make the washer slow, pause or cancel high-speed spin.

Why are clothes wet if the washer did spin?

A low-spin cycle, oversudsing, an unbalanced load or incomplete drainage can leave more water in fabrics.
