Before you start

Keep guards, panels and safety devices in place. Stop whenever the next action needs tools, live testing, disconnection or access beyond the owner's manual.

Checks you can safely make

  1. Clear the entire doorway

Move people, pets, vehicles and objects away from the opening and tracks. Do not stand under a suspended door.

  2. Read the opener feedback

Note flashing opener lights, wall-control messages and the indicator LED on each safety sensor. The flash pattern can identify an obstruction or wiring issue.

  3. Clean and align photo eyes

Gently wipe both lenses and confirm the sensors face each other at the same height. Tighten only the user-adjustable bracket if the manual permits.

  4. Compare remote and wall control

A door that closes only while the wall button is held commonly indicates a safety-sensor problem. Do not use this as a permanent workaround.

What to do next

Keep the opening secured and arrange a trained garage-door technician if cleaning and alignment do not restore normal automatic closing.

Common questions

Why does the door reverse and the opener light flash?

That commonly means the photo-eye safety beam is blocked, misaligned or has a wiring fault. Use the model's flash-code guide.

Can I disconnect the sensors?

No. They are required safety devices and must not be bypassed.
